I HEARD A FAINT CRY

ree

I saw a simple sight

of men

But the intelligent

would call it profane

I heard a faint cry

of men

but academia

would say to me

prove its existence

but with persistent

I try to explain

the more I try

the more they

Say my words

were vain

I told them we came

into this world

with nothing

and as we return

our hands would be

empty still

The world is a bully

and it takes all

like a house in a casino

But I told them my soul

is going wherever

I go....

So I take what's given

and return to who I was

before

It's not how much

we achieve

It's who we all believe
